LiveIND upload check
Check before uploading whether your documents meet the IND rules: PDF or JPG only, max 8 MB per file and 40 MB total.
runs entirely in your browser
My IND accepts PDF (without a password) and JPG/JPEG.
The IND upload rules
- PDF (without a password) and JPG/JPEG only. The business portal accepts PDF only.
- Max 8 MB per file and 40 MB for all documents together.
- A password-protected PDF is rejected. Remove the password first.
Rules per ind.nl (upload page), checked July 2026. This tool reads only the file name and size, not the contents.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the IND reject my file?
Usually for one of three reasons: it is not a PDF or JPG, it is larger than 8 MB, or all documents together exceed 40 MB. A password-protected PDF is rejected too. This check shows per file what is wrong.
Is my passport or payslip uploaded to this tool?
No. The check only looks at the file name and size, and that happens entirely in your browser. The contents of your document are not read and never leave your device.
My PDF is too large. How do I get it under 8 MB?
Use Shrink PDF to make the images inside the PDF smaller while keeping the text readable. For a single photo use Resize image. Both run in your browser, without upload.
Does this also apply to the business IND portal?
The business portal is stricter: PDF only, no JPG. Set the portal at the top to 'Business' and the check uses those rules. The 8 MB and 40 MB limits apply in both cases.
