KOR and reverse-charge VAT, briefly
The small-businesses scheme (KOR) is an exemption: if you take part, you do not charge or pay VAT and you leave it off your invoice. You also cannot reclaim the VAT on your purchases. If you use the KOR, pick 0% and note on your invoice that the KOR applies.
With reverse-charge VAT the liability shifts to the customer (for example in construction or with EU customers). Such an invoice shows 0% with the text 'btw verlegd' (VAT reverse-charged), and the customer reports the VAT. Pick 0% here too and add the right note to your invoice.

Frequently asked questions
How do I get the VAT out of an amount that already includes it?
Set the switch to 'Including VAT' and enter the gross amount. The tool extracts the VAT: at 21% the amount divided by 1.21 is the net amount, and the difference is the VAT. So 100 euro including 21% is 82.64 net and 17.36 VAT.
Which VAT rate should I pick?
21% is the general rate. 9% applies to things like food, books, medicines and some services. 0% is for exports, EU supplies, reverse-charge VAT or when you use the KOR. If you are not sure, check the Belastingdienst list.
Does summing multiple lines match my VAT return?
The tool sums per rate and rounds each line to the cent, as usual. The per-rate subtotals always add up exactly to the grand total. For your actual return your bookkeeping stays leading.
Are my amounts stored anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing goes to a server and nothing is kept. Close the tab and it is all gone.
