What Plainjar is built from. Stack, typography, hosting, credits.

What this is

A small, independent Dutch software company. One owner, no outside investors, no ad networks, no VC pressure. Revenue comes from flat-rate sponsorships and white-label deals with companies that want the same no-clutter principle for their customers or employees. Tools that ship when they're ready, and stay free for anyone who needs them.

Built with

Next.js 15 (App Router) with strict TypeScript and Tailwind v4. Internationalization through next-intl. Tool logic runs entirely in your browser, pdf-lib for PDF work, native Canvas API for images, jszip for archives.

Typography

Inter (variable) for everything you're reading. Fraunces (Google Fonts) for display headings and the hero. Both loaded via next/font with subsetting.

Hosting

Still being decided, EU hosting (Netherlands or similar). No US cloud, no tracking CDN. Plausible for cookieless analytics, MailerLite for double opt-in newsletter.

Code

Not open-source at the moment. Possibly later, once the structure settles.

Thanks to

The makers of the libraries above, Next.js, Tailwind, and every indie project showing that the web still has room for things that don't grow at any cost.
